Birken – Animated Series

Last year i started working on an side project called ‘Birken’. What is that?

Birken is, to use a buzzword, a personal mashup of former projects, tests, snipplets, code, models, footage, objects, sculptures, atmospheres, stories and ideas, which never made it into daylight for the lack of resources and focus. Birken is something like a surreal testing site with a fair tick of humor, and, let me assure you, even if it does not may seems so in the first episodes, it has got a story to evolve. But since Birken is more of a personal art lab and playground for me than a project with a commercial concept behind it, that is completely fine.

Episodic is the key: instead of burying ideas and experiments deep on my harddisk and wait until i got half a year to flesh them out fully (never happens), i will make a try this time to continually weave them into the Birken world -  a strange and dangerous rural world full of secrets, art, love, death and mad science…
